In 1943 Shanghai, an explosion leads to a showdown between Communist undercover agent Lu Zhengyang and former police officer Lin Shaobai. Six years later, Lu Zhengyang, now a key member of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau, recruits Lin Shaobai, the "Shanghai Expert," to tackle major cases and thwart the plots of veteran spy Zheng Lanting. People's Century is a television documentary series examining the 20th century. It was a joint production of the BBC in the United Kingdom and PBS member station WGBH Boston in the United States. A departure from other documentaries that observe history as the actions of great men, People's Century considers the Century from the view of common people.
